Last weekend, I flicked through various magazines, including the latest JCrew Style Guide. A page of men's shoes catches my eye - instantly recognisable as popular British brand, Alfred Sargent. Not only that - they are designed and handmade in my home county... Rural Northamptonshire.

Living in the USA for the past few years, I felt proud of my hometown and felt compelled to write a piece showcasing the stylish, elegant and flamboyant shoe brands from Northamptonshire and their staggering achievements on the global stage.

The County of Northamptonshire has been synonymous with the art of shoemaking and production of the finest shoes since the late 18th century and home to big names such as; Crockett and Jones, Jeffery West, Loake, Church's and of course, Alfred Sargent.

Founded 1879 by James Crockett, Crockett and Jones caught the public eye recently designing four pairs for 'Skyfall'

Jeffery West Infamous English Shoes... Guy West and Mark Jeffery founded & design these shamelessly eccentric, Rock 'n Roll inspired shoes. Regularly spotted amongst celebrities, they are both flamboyant with a capital F and the craftsmanship is second to none. Check out their website!
